Students need to contact us by March 15 so we can order enough kits and free motion feet for those who need one. We also need to know if you plan on attending since we forsee this class filling up to the brim. We will be rearrainging the classroom for this one to make room for more students. You also need to make sure you have a free motin foot for your machine. Contact us for details if you need help to determine this.

Taught by
Veronica Hofman-Ortega

Fiber artist, quiltmaker and instructor, Veronica Hofman-Ortega, follows the philosophy: “Why
use 5 fabrics when you can use 50??” She uses color and contrast to catch the viewer’s eye and
incorporates dimension and texture to entice the viewer to move in for a closer look. Veronica
began quiltmaking using traditional patterns but quickly expanded her work to include art quilts
and wearable art. She enjoys the creative aspect of free-motion quilting which uses thread, color
and stitch to bring a third dimension to a two-dimensional quilt top. As an instructor, her classes
are filled with information, techniques and opportunities for student creativity and self-expression.
Veronica has won awards for her quilts and wearables and her work has appeared in national
exhibits and juried competitions. Her quilt, “Pi E2 [Exponentially Embellished]” was juried into the
2013 Georgia Quilt Show. She authored an article for Belle Armoire magazine that featured her
shibori garments [2011], and her quilt, “Break Free. Take Flight,” was awarded Best Use of Handdyed/
Altered Fabric in the “Quilt It” competition sponsored by Lark Books [2010]. Veronica designs
quilt patterns, offers free-motion quilting services, and is a fabric representative for Blank Quilting.
She is also an active member of two Chattanooga area guilds.
You can follow her quiltmaking journey through her blog at www.FiberAnticsbyVeronica.com.
