In 1912 Hearth & Home, a popular farm magazine of the time, inaugurated its state capitals series of quilt blocks for which readers from around the country were asked to contribute. The best patterns, whether original designs or the senders' "favorites," then appeared in the magazine. After years of searching for these legendary and rare quilt blocks, the editors have collected all of them and prepared full-size patterns. They are reprinted here along with the blocks for the capitals of the then "outlying possessions" of Alaska and Hawaii. This is Hearth & Home's own sequel to its successful States-of-the-Union series.
