Review from SewCal GalEasy Quilts for Beginners and Beyond: 14 Quilt Patterns From Quilt Maker Magazine is a fun book that would also make an excellent gift for a beginner quilter, but also appropriate for quilters of all levels that want to create easy, fast & fun quilts.
Review from Barbara Rhoades
Scrap quilts and beginners - nothing says easier than that. You don't have to worry about colorways or if you have enough of a fabric. Just use up what you have.
14 patterns are written with easy to follow instructions and graphics for us visual people. Using squares, half triangles and strips, the blocks that make up these quilts will go together easily for the beginner and will let the more advanced quilter take a break from the more intricate patterns.
There is a paper piecing pattern and one that contain applique but you can always use a print fabric instead of the applique. Templates are provided at full size. There is even a string quilt that has cleverly added three or four Prairie Points in the middle of one of the strips - a really cute idea! There are suggested quilting directions to finish your quilt.
This is a book that my charity guild will like for making easy quilts and to help us use the fabric scraps we have from making other quilts. I can't wait to share this book with the gals.
