A Childs Garden of Verses

In this edition of Robert Louis Stevenson’s venerated volume of children’s poems, Tudor’s old-fashioned illustrations perfectly complement the poetry that has survived a century in print. Here is a comfortable world of sunny gardens and storybooks, where children play with toy soldiers and imaginary friends. Stevenson perfectly captures the child’s world of sunshine, stars, dreams, toy boats, swings, apple tarts, fairies, flowers, and far-away places in simple, evocative language which remains just as accessible for today’s children as it was for their grandparents. First published in 1885, Stevenson’s marvellous collection of children’s poetry has never gone out of print, and remains near the top of numerous Best books for Children lists.
A Novelist, poet, and essayist Robert Louis Stevenson was born in Edinburgh,
Scotland. It was with the publication of Treasure Island in 1883 that Stevenson achieved wide recognition and fame.

Selling Points
The panel portrays a variety of illustrations from the book, including the cover illustration. The layout is different from previous panels. This time, the scenes are set in an array of shapes and sizes. The panel can be used in full repeat or it can be fussy cut as demonstrated in the kit project.
The panel scenes show boys and girls, which enables the panel to work in projects for both. The panel scenes are perfect for cornerstones in quilts and in centres of blocks. The individual shapes can be cut out and appliquéd on pillows or quilted and framed to display on a bedroom wall.
The toile (style 1320) captures the variety of animals Tasha illustrated to convey Stevenson’s poems. It is a perfect background piece and backing fabric. The gingham check (style 1323) gives the collection a touch of geometry. It will work great for inner borders, binding and backings on a quilt as well as ruffles for pillows and curtains. The floral stripe depicts Tasha’s hand drawn floral borders, her trademark illustration. New to the range is lavender, a popular colour used in décor for little girls, especially when combined with the greens. RJR’s Pin Dots, Handspray and Cotton Supreme Solids work to expand the line even further.
