“A Ribbon Runs Thru It” Quilt Challenge

Sponsored by Hyderhangout, Cleveland, TN

Challenge Guidelines:

Make a quilt that depicts your interpretation of “A Ribbon Runs Thru It”.

All quilts must have 3 layers: 2 layers of cloth, filled with batting material.  The 3 layers must be held together by a stitched design with stitching being distributed throughout the work.  Quilts may be quilted by hand or by machine.  Rag quilts and tied quilts are not eligible.

Follow all of the general guidelines for your quilt.

In addition to the general guidelines you must use the Benartex Fossil Fern fabric color #077.

You may use as much of other fabrics as you desire  The challenge fabric (Fossil Fern #077) must run in a recognizable strip from one side of the quilt through the other side of the quilt and be continued thru the binding around the quilt. The challenge fabric needs to be a minimum of 2 inches across the width of the quilt.  It may start at any point on the right side and exit at any point on the left side.  It is not necessary for it to be in a straight line or enter and exit on the same level.

Size:  Maximum size of no more than a total of 144” measured around the perimeter of the quilt.  Minimum size: not less than 96” measured around the perimeter of the quilt.

Quilts may be of any shape so long as they meet the size requirements.

Quilts must be made in the past year and not have been exhibited previously in this event.

All quilts must have a label on the back with makers name, address and telephone number.

We prefer all quilts to have 4” rod pockets  on the back to assist with hanging.

Please use your imagination and have fun with the challenge.  Originality, workmanship and use of the color will all be factors in the judging process.  A Northcott representative will be part of the judging panel and winners will be chosen prior to the opening of the event.

Each quilt entry should be presented with a registration form and registration fee at Sew 'n So Quilt Shop between April 5th until April 9th.  Quilts will be on display at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, Georgia for the entire month of April and returned to the entrant during the 1st   full week of May, 2019.  Prizes will be awarded at the One Stop Shop Hop event.  Pictures of the quilts may be used for advertising purposes.

If you desire to sell your finished quilt, please contact us.  The Creative Arts Guild does handle those types of sales for a commission and we will be happy to arrange that for you.
